It’s funny what the true reality of things are for most of us. A lot of people have no clue that their lives are very much influenced by the things that get pushed before them. Back in the days, when there was nothing like mobile phones or any sort of mobile technology, “Gossip” was the influencing factor. A lot of people then did things simply out of fear of being judged by other people in the “gossip circle”, but there was a huge limit to how far gossip carried by human could go. At least, they didn’t have to worry about people in order countries judging them. Times have changed so much now and so as the problem.

There’s this saying that, “as a man thinketh, so is he”. It’s common knowledge to many that thoughts are very powerful and it’s one reason the book “The Secret” is a best seller. What a lot don’t realise, is how we sometimes pay to be fed information or even visuals that directly affect our thought process and could even change the trajectory of one’s life. Life has evolved and a lot of cool things has been brought into existence, but most of these things have indirectly taken over control of our lives. The kind of stories you hear or the kind of information you consume consistently has the “power” to create a thought-pattern that affects your perspective towards your entire life.

Twitter has a way of capturing your focus on a particular topic for a period of time, and whether you like-it-or-not, as you scroll through the comments, like, or retweet you are either reinforcing an existing thought pattern or adapting to a new one. The problem now isn’t even the content itself, but what happens within you as a result of what you just saw or read. People become their thoughts, so if you don’t manage what goes into your thought process, you’d end up having a very distorted life and you wouldn’t find an easy trail.

The power of a man’s thought can’t be overemphasised. It’s in fact very practical, once an erotic content pops up on your phone there’s a high tendency that you’ll react almost immediately. What really happened was a change in your thought process that lead to an action, the only difference is that you didn’t initiate that action out of choice. The point is a lot of people are just plainly reacting to lots of stuffs without being intentional about their own actions.

There’s been a lot of talks about regulating ‘Social media algorithms’ and that is plausible, but honestly users have the power to control these things. You have the power to discontinue the automatic social-programming that’s left you more miserable. You have the power to self-program your peace of mind, by simply unfollowing, blocking, deleting, unsubscribing and so many other options within your control. You may have no control over the first occurrence, but subsequent action is entirely on you. Your thoughts are very powerful and it’s important you manage anything that can have any effect on it intentionally!
